There's nothing you can do about it. In fact, I'm a little bit sick of all the too-cool-for-schoolers out there submitting their all too unsolicited opinion. I love pop music. Melodies, interesting voices, and a unique lyrical perspective are what make a song something special, and usually something so rare is often touched by a manufacturing process at some point. In any event, despite the fact that manufactured products are essentially the basis of American society, the people have, over the years, demanded more integrity from their mainstream artists, namely a writing credit.

However, more and more artists are contributing to the entire process of production, only to find that they are met with just as much criticism. Taylor Swift, Ke$ha, and many other pop artists have written/co-written most, if not all of their material since day one, and that's pretty impressive, but people still stick their nose up at it.

Sometimes, when I'm in the middle of defending Ke$ha , who by the way uses a dollar symbol in her name ironically, to one of my friends, which happens often, I usually say, "Hey, she writes all her own music," which is usually rebutted with, "Um, that's not something she should be proud of." The thing is that I'm certain most people who criticize such artists probably never listen to the lyrics or to any of the album tracks. Ke$ha has covered topics ranging from obsessive love, underground societies, materialism, to individual rights. If anything, these people are too busy looking superficially at music to see what's really being said. Sadly, not every song has to be acoustic to bear depth. How shallow?!

The truth is that these people just don't like anything that sounds like it's popular or well-produced. I say to these people, "Open your mind." Quit letting societal pressures of the hip variety keep you from enjoying something. Honestly, the escapist-yet-cathartic elements of pop music have often saved me from the saddest points in my life.

Do I love everything Ke$ha, Miley, and Britney put out? Certainly not. In fact, I listen to niche and popular music of all genres, moods, and styles. Not everything has to be happy and poppy, but not everything has to be written in the depths of basement while slowly cutting oneself only to be heard by 200 people either. It all matters, and it all warrants respect. So please, the next time you bash Ke$ha, you can pretty much eat one!

Hey Guys,

It's been over a year since I last updated you guys, and I know this post is coming around a lot sooner than you would have thought, but what can I say?... I'm a giver... As far as school is concerned, things are moving along nicely; it's still a pain getting my classes approved for transfer one-by-one, but it's happening, and I think I'll be out of here before 2020, for sure... Actually, word on the street is that no one will be able to get a student loan to save their life for the fall, so maybe 2020 is a reasonable goal... Can I just say that I completely agree that these lenders should not have been putting out loans to people who couldn't pay them off?... However, at the same time, I am completely disgusted by the individuals who took them to begin with... These people thought they could buy not only one house they couldn't afford, but dozens, in the hopes of turning real-estate ownership/remodeling into a business... You can't get something for nothing, and look who's paying for it, either in extremely high interest rates or by not getting a loan at all: me... Doesn't anyone realize that I am the most important person on Earth and that if I am unhappy, the entire world cries?... Anyone?... Anyone at all?... Fuck you then...

My personal life, on the other hand, couldn't be better... Just when I decided I was going to join the ministry, as most cock-loving men do, of course, Rocky came knocking at my door, and he wasn't a Jehovah's Witness... No, not Rocky Balboa, the fun-loving boxer with a speech impediment that is so often confused with a masculine Italian accent, Rocky Bryan Cash, the short baby-faced Mexican (sort of) from Fort Stockton... We met via a mutual internet acquaintance, whose name shant be said... Shant!!! One thing led to another and we're all in love and shit... Lest ye not forget the part about the shit... It's the most important part... Anyway, we were splitting our time between Austin and San Antonio, but he had to move back home to Fort Stockton to bank some dough... The goal is, however, to split time between Austin and um, Austin, graduate, and live happily ever after, like in all those fairytales you read about in Hustler... Okay sluts, that's it for now...
Trev :)
